Photograph signed: "Chris/Evert" and "Martina". B/w, 9½x6½. Tennis champions Navratilova and Evert faced each other 80 times during their careers, with Martina holding a 43-37 edge. By her retirement after the 1994 season, MARTINA NAVRATILOVA had won 18 singles titles in Grand Slam events: a record nine at Wimbledon (1978, 1979, 1982-1987 and 1990), four U.S. Opens (1983, 1984, 1986 and 1987), three Australian Opens (1981, 1983 and 1985), two French Opens (1982 and 1984) and 31 Grand Slam doubles titles. In 1984, she won a record 74 straight singles matches. CHRIS EVERT won 157 tennis singles titles. Her 18 Grand Slam singles titles include seven French Opens (1974, 1975, 1979, 1980, 1983, 1985 and 1986), six U.S. Opens (1975-1978, 1980 and 1982), three Wimbledon championships (1974, 1976 and 1981), two Australian Opens (1982 and 1984) and three Grand Slam doubles. With a 1,309-146 won-lost record, she has a .899 winning average, the highest in pro history. Evert was married to tennis player John Lloyd from 1979-1987. Image slightly grainy.
