Marty Allen signs a first day cover honoring Christmas.
First Day Cover: "Marty Allen", 6½x3½. First Day Cover
honoring Christmas, 8-cent stamp affixed, postmarked Washington, D. C.,
November 7, 1973, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. With his distinctive hair and
eyeballs, comedian Allen looks as if he has just been electrocuted. With
Steve Rossi, he formed a popular comedy team of the 1960s,
appearing frequently on Hollywood Palace and The Ed Sullivan
Show (Sullivan liked to have them as guests during appearances by The
Beatles). Allen appeared occasionally in films thereafter, including
The Last of the Secret Agents (1966), The Great Waltz (1972) and
Cannonball Run II (1984). Nicked at upper left corner. Fine
condition.
