"MARTY" LYONS (born in 1957 played his entire 11-season NFL career with
the New York Jets (1979-1989). A former star on the University of
Alabama's 1978 National Championship team under legendary coach Paul "Bear"
Bryant, he was the 14th overall draft pick in the 1979 NFL Draft. Lyons was part
of the defensive front-four known as "the New York Stock Exchange", which
terrorized the NFL in 1981 and 1982, accounting for 53.5 sacks in 1981
alone. He is also known for injuring the knee (and ending the career) of
Miami Dolphin Dwight Stephenson during a game in 1987. After finishing his pro
career, Lyons founded the Marty Lyons Foundation, which works with
terminally ill children, and (as of November 2011) he is the Jets' radio
analyst. Lightly soiled on verso.
