Autograph letter signed: "Mary Ann Mobley", 1p, 7¼x10½. New York, N.Y., 1963 October 9. On her personal imprinted letterhead to "Dear Danny". In full: "Just a note to thank you for your kind letter. I'll be appearing on the 'Tonight Show' October 5th. I hope you will watch! Sincerely". Mobley would return to The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in 1971. One of the few Miss Americas (1959) to find success after winning the title, singer and actress Mary Ann Mobley (1939-2014) has appeared in feature films and made-for-TV movies, been a regular on several TV series and made guest appearances on a number of TV shows. After making her film debut in 1964's Get Yourself a College Girl, Mobley won the Golden Globe for New Star of the Year - Female before going on to star in two films with Elvis Presley (Girl Happy and Harum Scarum, both 1965). Her other film credits include For Singles Only (1968), and Mobley appeared in a long list of made-for-TV movies. Her television credits include appearing in regular roles on General Hospital (1979) and Diff'rent Strokes (1985-1986) and guest co-hosting The Home Show (1992, 1993). Mobley also had a recurring role on Falcon Crest (1988) and was frequently seen on The New Hollywood Squares (1987, 1988, 1989) and episodes of Fantasy Island and The Love Boat. She has been married to actor/talk show host Gary Collins since 1967. Their only child, daughter Mary Clancy Collins, became a television executive.
