MARY BOLAND
Her signature on a slip attached to the matte of an unsigned 4x6
photo
Signature: "Mary Boland", 3½x1 attached to 8x10 matte containing a b/w
4½x5¾ photograph. Mary Boland (1880-1965) made 11 Broadway appearances, starting
in 1907, before making her first film in 1915. Dissatisfied with the
acting possibilities of silent movies, she returned full-time to the stage in
1920. Her biggest stage success was in The Cradle Snatchers
(1925-1926), as a woman who left her husband for a young lover - acting newcomer
Humphrey Bogart! Returning to films in character roles after 1930, she found
success in Ruggles of Red Gap (1935), The Woman (1939) and
Pride and Prejudice (1940). Signature paper irregularly cut. Otherwise,
fine condition.
