"SHE'S BLONDE NOW - Mary Brian wears a blonde wig and becomes a
target for the affections of both Lanny Ross and Jack Oakie in Paramount's
'College Rhythm'.". Brian (1908-2002), an American leading lady and
one of the best liked actors in Hollywood during the silent age, got her
start as Wendy Darling in Peter Pan (1924) after appearing in a
beauty contest the previous year. This role landed her a contract with
Paramount, and she went on to appear in over 70 films between 1924 and 1927,
including a starring role in Paramount's first all-talkie, The
Virginian (1929). Brian's career petered out in the mid-1930s, though
she did give a memorable performance as W. C. Fields' daughter in The Man on
the Flying Trapeze (1935). She retired from film after 1937, making
occasional appearances in low budget movies and television, including a
recurring role as Janet Archer in Meet Corliss Archer (1954). Lightly
toned, silvered, creased and bowed. Parts of signature have low contrast but are
legible. Otherwise in fine condition.
