Inscribed signature: "J. Paula/ Mary Carlisle" in pencil, 4¾3¾. Mary Carlisle, born in 1912, broke into film in 1930, playing leading roles from 1933 until she retired ten years later. Alternating between starring and supporting roles, Carlisle was the love interest of Bing Crosby in 3 films (College Humor,1933; Double or Nothing, 1937; and Dr. Rhythm, 1938). After leaving films she managed the Elizabeth Arden salon in Beverly Hills. As of mid-2011, Carlisle and Barbara Kent are the only two surviving "WAMPAS Baby Stars". Pencil notes (unknown hand) at top margin. Toned. Fine condition.
