MARY HEALY
Black and white youthful publicity photograph of the actress/singer, Inscribed in person to collector Saul Goodman
Inscribed printed photograph signed in ink: "To Saul/Sincerely/Mary Healy". B/w 8x10, Collector's ink stamp on verso dates signature: March 16, 1940. Mary Healy (1918-2015), actress, singer and variety entertainer retired after her husband's death in 1998. From 1946 onward, the songs-and-snappy-patter team of husband and wife Peter Lind Hayes and Mary Healey was a top New York nightclub and theatrical attraction. They extended their activities to TV in 1949, starring in such variety series as Inside the USA With Chevrolet (1949-1950), The Stork Club (1950), The Peter Lind Hayes Show (1950-51, with Mary--originally titled Peter and Mary) and Star of the Family (1951). Her starring film roles, predating her marriage to Hayes, included Second Fiddle (1939) and The Yanks are Coming (1942). Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Corners worn and creased. Ink stamp on verso. Otherwise, Fine condition.
