MARY REEVES - AUTOGRAPHED SIGNED PHOTOGRAPH - HFSID 279952
Color publicity photograph of Mary Reeves wearing a button down shirt.
Photograph inscribed and signed: "Thanks Charlie,/Mary Reeves". Color, 8x10. Mary Reeves Davis (1929-1999), a country singer, was married to legendary Grand Ole Opry and international recording star James Travis "Gentleman Jim" Reeves from 1946 until his death in an airplane crash in 1964. His career confidant during his lifetime, Mary formed Jim Reeves Enterprises after his death to protect and preserve his estate and image. Her remastering and release of her husband's previously unreleased songs resulted in Reeves' continuing popularity long after his death. In 1969, Mrs. Reeves married her second husband, Terry Davis. In 1996, suffering from Alzheimer's disease, she transferred control of Jim Reeves Enterprises to her husband, who sold it to United Shows of America, Inc. for $7.3 million. Reeves' niece and sister contested the sale, claiming that Mrs. Davis had been duped into transferring the enterprise and that Mary would have wanted Jim Reeves Enterprises continued under the control of a non-profit entity. Fine condition.
