An Autograph Letter signed by the early Canadian film star.
Autograph Letter signed: "Matheson Lang", 1 page, 8x9¾. Also
initialed on verso: "M.L." North Stalham, Norfolk (England),
1934 June 28. On personal letterhead to "Dear Mr. Meadmore". In
full: "I've sent off to my secretary asking her to get all the photos she
can lay her hands on. If you get in touch with her you could select from what
she's got those you think would be useful. Of course on the understanding I have
them all safely back. Many of them would be irreplaceable. Best wishes. Yours
sincerely". And on verso: "Miss Kavanaugh is not often at the
office while I am away so you can get her at her home address. Her married name
is Mrs. Cleland. [Her address follows.]Canadian-born actor Matheson
Lang (1879-1948) made his film debut in 1916's The Merchant of Venice,
and he would go on to appear in films until 1936 (The Cardinal).
His credits include Guy Fawkes (1923, starring role), The King's
Highway (1927), The Triumph of the Scarlet Pimpernel (1928), Drake
of England (1935, starring role) and Royal Cavalcade (1935). Lang
also wrote two plays. Lightly soiled at edges. Fold creases not at signature.
Paper loss at upper right corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
