Small slip of paper signed and dated in pencil "Yours sincerely" by actress Maude Adams in 1932
Autograph signature signed "Yours sincerely/Maude Adams/1932" in pencil. 3¾x3. American stage actress Adams (1873-1952), born Maude Ewing Adams Kiskadden, is probably best known today as the first actress to play Peter Pan on Broadway. In fact, she played the character a total of four times between the original production 1905 and 1912. Adams had a long association with the stage; she made her debut, with her mother in Salt Lake City, when she was nine months old. She debuted in New York City when she was 16 and found stardom with plays written by Sir James M. Barrie. These included Peter Pan as well as The Little Minister (1897-1898, 1904-1905 and 1916), Quality Street (1901-1902 and 1908), What Every Woman Knows (1908-1909), The Legend of Leonora (1914) and A Kiss for Cinderella (1916-1917). In all, she appeared, and often starred, in almost 30 Broadway productions between 1888 and 1917. Lightly toned. Signature is lightly smudged but legible. Paper loss at right edge with show-through (does not touch signature). Irregular edges. Otherwise in fine condition.
