Photograph Signed: "Bill Macy", "Bea Arthur", B/w 5x8. Maude originally aired on CBS from 1972 to 1978 with Bea Arthur cast as Maude Findlay and Bill Macy cast as Walter Findlay. Beatrice "Bea" Arthur (1922-2009) began doing TV comedy in 1954 (The George Gobel Show, Caesar's Hour). After a hit guest starring appearance on All on the Family in 1971, Arthur got a sitcom of her own, Maude (1972-1978), for which she won an Emmy Award and was nominated for four Golden Globes. Later the co-star of The Golden Girls (1985-1992), Arthur had made her TV debut on Kraft Television Theatre in 1951. She has also appeared on Broadway, winning a Tony Award for her performance as Vera Charles in Mame (a role she reprised in the 1975 film, for which she received a Golden Globe nomination) and stealing the show as the matchmaker in Fiddler on the Roof. Bill Macy, an original cast member of the nude stage musical Oh! Calcutta (1969), is best known as Bea Arthur's long-suffering husband on the TV sitcom Maude (1972-1978). He has had many supporting roles since, as well as shorter lasting series such as Nothing in Common (1987). He had noteworthy cameos as a retirement community resident on Seinfeld and again on My Name is Earl (2007). Corners creased. Ink stamp, adhesive tape, and toned on verso.
