Maureen O'Sullivan sends an autograph letter on a postcard to a friend thanking her for the phone call.
Autograph Letter signed: "Maureen (O'Sullivan)", 6x4 picture postcard of Malibu Beach and Point Dume. Postmarked Santa Monica, California, January [?], 1977. Addressed in signer's hand to Miss Ann Edwards, New York, N.Y. In full: "How nice you called. I'll phone when I get back - a month perhaps. Staying with Mia at Malibu. It is unreal when I see the [illegible] of the country on T.V. Too awful. Hope you both are well. I've lost your address so have this to Monica. Give her my love. Affection." She had added a temporary return address: "22330 Pac. Coast Highway - Malibu". Irish actress O'Sullivan (1911-1998)starred in such films as A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (1931), The Barretts of Wimpole Street (1934), David Copperfield (1935), A Day at the Races (1937) and Pride and Prejudice (1941). She played Jane to Johnny Weissmuller's Tarzan in six films (1932-1942), creating quite a sensation with her scanty apparel and nude swimming scene in Tarzan and His Mate (1934). Married to director John Farrow until his death in 1963, she is the mother of actresses Mia and Tisa Farrow. She portrayed Mia's mom on film in Hannah and Her Sisters (1986). A frequent TV guest star in the 1950s, she co-anchored Today (1964-1965). Fine condition.
