MAUREEN O'SULLIVAN
Publicity photograph Maureen O'Sullivan Wearing a hat, inscribed in person to collector Saul Goodman
Inscribed photograph signed: "To Saul Goodman/ Sincerely/Maureen O'Sullivan". B/w 8x10. Ink stamp on verso dates signature: October 14, 1937.Irish actress O'Sullivan (1911-1998) starred in such films as A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (1931), The Barretts of Wimpole Street (1934), David Copperfield (1935), A Day at the Races (1937) and Pride and Prejudice (1941). She played Jane to Johnny Weissmuller's Tarzan in six films (1932-1942), creating quite a sensation with her scanty apparel and nude swimming scene in Tarzan and His Mate (1934). Married to director John Farrow until his death in 1963, she is the mother of actresses Mia and Tisa Farrow. She portrayed Mia's mom on film in Hannah and Her Sisters (1986). A frequent TV guest star in the 1950s, she co-anchored Today (1964-1965). Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Corners worn. Signature lightly beaded and in poor contrast but legible. Otherwise, fine condition.
