Washington, D. C. to a New York City publisher in 1899, saying that "The
preface will be ready on July 1st."
Autograph note signed "Maurice Francis Egan". 1 page, 5½x3¼.
Written in Washington, D. C., on "June 27.", postmarked Washington, D.
C., June 27, 1899. Addressed to "Albert Ethan Berg, [illegible]", The
Colonial Press Publishers, New York City. Written on a blank 1¢ postcard. In
full: "The preface will be ready on July 1st." Egan
(1852-1924) was a prolific author whose works included The Glories of the
Catholic Church in Art, Architecture and History (1896). Egan taught English
literature at Notre Dame and Catholic University. He was U. S. Minister to
Denmark (1907-1918). Lightly toned, foxed and creased. Address, but not
signature, is lightly smeared in places but legible. Ink transference touches
return address but not signature. Light tear at left edge. Rounded corners.
Normal postal stamps. Otherwise in fine condition.
