MAURICE H. STANS The professional accountant who worked for both President Eisenhower and President Nixon signed this card in blue ink Signature: "Maurice H. Stans", 5x3 card. Maurice H. Stans (1908-1998), a longtime partner of the accounting firm of Alexander Grant & Co., was Director of the Bureau of the Budget under President Eisenhower (1958-1961). He was named to the Accountants Hall of Fame in 1960. Stans served as Nixon's Secretary of Commerce from 1969-1972, then became Chairman of the Finance Committee for the Committee to Re-Elect the President (CRP). It was in this latter role that he became embroiled in the Watergate scandal. He was indicted on 10 counts of perjury and conspiracy involving a $200,000 contribution from financier Robert Vesco, but was acquitted. He subsequently pleaded guilty to five violations of campaign finance laws and paid a $5,000 fine. Lightly toned around edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
