MAURICE RICHARD. Hockey Puck signed: "M Richard", 3-inch diameter. Black official hockey puck with Les Canadiens Montreal label affixed at center. Canadian hockey star Maurice Richard (1921-2000) debuted for the Montreal Canadiens on October 31, 1942. Over his 18-year career, he played the game of ice hockey at a skill level possessed by only those gifted few who can be called legends. Richard became the first player in NHL history to score fifty markers in as many contests. In the 1957-1958 season, Richard became the first NHLer to reach the 500-goal plateau. He was named to 14 consecutive NHL First/Second All-Star teams and participated in 13 consecutive NHL All-Star contests. Richards, who led the league in goal scoring five times and netted 18 postseason game-winning goals, was awarded the Hart Trophy in 1947. He was elected to Hockey's Hall of Fame in 1961. When Richard died in 2000, he was given a state funeral in Canada. Fine condition. Presented in Gallery of History pedestal style: 6½x6½x2¼ base; 3x3x3 display case.
