Sale Price $180.00
Handwritten note by the boogie-woogie pianist, on a card bearing a newspaper photograph
Autograph Note signed: "To Kayo/My Best Wishes/Maurice/Rocco", 5x3 card. Captioned newspaper photo affixed at left edge (2 surfaces). Pianist Maurice Rocco (1915-1976) started to pursue a classical music education at Miami University of Ohio, but his professors took a dim view of adaptations of Bach and Beethoven with a boogie-woogie beat. So he became a nightclub entertainer, leading his own group, Maurice Rocco and His Rockin' Rhythm Boys. Rocco appeared (as himself) in several films, including 52nd Street (1937), and on radio and TV variety shows. Fine condition.
