MAX BAER, JR. Typed DS: "Max A. Baer" and initialed "M.A.B.", 1p, 8½x11. No place, no date. AFTRA form headed: "Re: Authorization - Talent Checks". Begins: "Gentlemen". In part: "I hereby authorize and direct you to deliver any and all checks and/or sums of money which may, from time to time, be or become payable to me including but not limited to initial compensation, residuals, royalties, re-play and foreign use payments, unless limited to services checked and initialed by me below, to: Bernard Sandler's Commercial Talent Agency, 6922 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, Calif. 90028...." Baer has put a check mark and initialed the line limiting the authorization to "Radio and TV Commercials". Max Baer, Jr. (born Maximilian Adalbert Baer, Jr. in 1937) is best known for his role as Jethro Bodine on the hit TV series, The Beverly Hillbillies (1962-1971). Baer, who also played Jethrene Bodine on the show from 1962-1963, became so typecast in the role that he was unable to find work for three years after the series ended. He finally returned to the screen in Macon County Line (1974), a film that he co-wrote and produced. The son of former heavyweight boxing champion Max Baer, he had made his acting debut in 1960, guest starring on such TV series as Hawaiian Eye, Maverick and Surfside 6 that year. Baer has also appeared in made-for-TV movies and guest starred on a number of other shows. Also a director as well as producer and writer, Baer began investigating the gaming business and purchased licensing rights for The Beverly Hillbillies name and characters to enable him to build his own theme casino, which is expected to open in 2006. Creased with folds, light horizontal fold at social security number, which is blacked out on scan. Four tears, one-inch (two), ¼-inch and 1¼-inch at upper margin. ½-inch tear at upper right blank margin, upper right corner torn away. Overall, fine condition.
