MAX LANIER - AUTOGRAPHED SIGNED CHECK 02/03/1976 - HFSID 164033
Price: $200.00
MAX LANIER. Check signed: "Max Lanier", 6x2¾. St.
Petersburg, Florida, 1976 February 3. Check No. 20, drawn on Lanier's
account at Barnett Bank of St. Petersburg, payable to Terry Lanier for
$200. Filled out in another hand with memo: "school". Terry was one of
Lanier's two sons. Although he became a lefthander only because he broke his
right arm twice as a child, Max Lanier (1915-2007) was the top-winning
southpaw for three consecutive Cardinal pennant winners, 1942-1944. He was
6-0 in 1946, then jumped to Mexican League, causing his suspension from
organized baseball. Lanier was reinstated in 1949 and won 11 games for the
Cardinals in both 1950 and 1951. His other son, Hal, became a major league
player, coach and manager. Slightly creased. Ink notes (unknown hand) at upper
left. Bank stamp on verso shows through faintly at signature. Overall, fine
condition.
