MAX TERHUNE
7x5 photograph of the actor shown as "Lullaby Joslin" in movie still
from The Three Mesquiteers, he points an arrow to his own horseback
image.
Inscribed Photograph Signed: "Good/Luck/to/Doris/from/Max
Terhune/'Lullaby Johnson'". Sepia, 7x5. Shown with co-stars Bob Livingston
and Ray "Crash" Corrigan.Terhune has drawn an arrow pointing to his own
image, but the photo was already captioned with the names of The Three
Mesquiteers. Max Terhune (1891-1973) was usually cast as a
sidekick, but a sidekick with his own unique gimmicks. He was a magician and a
ventriloquist, and worked both talents into his films. His dummy Elmer traveled
with him in the saddle! Terhune was often cast as "Alibi." He played "Lullaby
Joslin" in 21 of the 51 Three Mesquiteers made between 1936 and 1943,
more than any other actor. Different actors played each of the three title
characters in this films, and sometimes switched roles, but this image features
Bob Livingston as "Stony Brooke" and Ray "Crash" Corrigan as "Tucson Smith."
Lightly bowed. Corners lightly worn. Unknown residue on verso. Otherwise, fine
condition.
