Hollywood Blvd - Jan 24, 35". MAXIE "SLAPSIE MAXIE" ROSENBLOOM
(1904-1976) was World Light Heavyweight Champion from 1930 to 1934.
He was nicknamed "Slapsie Maxie" by sportswriter Damon Runyon for his
unorthodox style in the ring; when he signed his name, Rosenbloom frequently
spelled it "Slapsy". As an actor, Rosenbloom typically portrayed punch-drunk
characters. He appeared in over 30 films from 1933 to 1966 including Mr.
Moto's Gamble (1938), Each Dawn I Die (1939), To the Shores
of Tripoli (1942) and Abbott and Costello Meet the Keystone
Kops (1955). BERT GORDON (1985-1974) was an American voice actor
and comedian best known for his character The Mad Russian. This character
was parodied in a number of cartoons including What's Cookin' Doc?
(1944), Russian Rhapsody (1944), and Hare Ribbin
(1944). His film credits include Izzy in the 1932 film Madison Sq.
Garden, Goofy in the 1935 film She Gets Her Man, The Mad
Russian in the 1941 film Sing for Your Supper, and Boris
Rascalnikoff in Laugh Your Blues Away (1942) and Let's Have
Fun (1943). He was also a regular on many television shows including
The Eddie Cantor Program and The Abbott and Costello
Program. Bottom edge of card torn. Right edge of album leaf frayed from
binding. Corners of album leaf lightly creased and worn. Otherwise, fine
condition.
