The Mayor of New York City writes a short letter to the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,
Chamber of Commerce.
Typed Letter Signed: "F LaGuardia" as Mayor of New York City, 1p, 8x10. Office of the
Mayor, 1936 May 27. To H.W. Correll, Pittsburgh. In full: "I have your letter of May 16,
1936, and as requested, I am enclosing herewith [not present] the autographed cover."
Republican Fiorello Henry LaGuardia (1882-1947) was Mayor of New York City for three
terms (1934-1945). LaGuardia became nationally known for his sweeping reforms of city
government, creation of Depression-Era jobs and ambitious projects, which included clearing
slums and building roads, housing, schools, parks and playgrounds and the city's first airport,
which was named in his honor.Folds, vertical fold touches first "o" in Fiorello. Lightly creased.
