JOHN V. LINDSAY
The New York politician's signature in blue ink
Signature: "John Lindsay", in blue ink, 5½x4½. Paul F. Boyd, whose signature is present on the verso, has no further information available. John V. Lindsay(1921-2000) was Mayor of New York City from 1966-1973. Lindsay, who had previously served as a U.S. Congressman from New York (1959-1965), received one delegate vote on the first ballot at the 1968 Republican National Convention. He became a Democrat in 1971 and ran a short-lived campaign for the 1972 Democratic presidential nomination. A veteran of WWII, Lindsay had practiced law before entering politics, and returned to his practice after his career in politics had ended. However, despite his end in politics, Lindsay remained a popular public figure with his many guest hosting appearances on Good Morning America, his novel The Edge, and his short lived acting attempt which spawned a role in the 1975 film Rosebud. Left edge frayed and torn. Faint pencil notes on top margin. Corners slightly worn and creased. Slight creases. Small stain on right edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
