Henderson, McLean, Virginia. In full: "Dear Hunk: I'm pleased to have a copy of your resumeand appreciate your desire to relocate. Best of luck in this endeavor. Thanks so much for your warm good wishes for my re-election. I am most grateful for them. Warm regards. Sincerely". John Vliet Lindsay (1921-2000) was Mayor of New York City from 1966-1973. Lindsay, who had previously served as a U.S. Congressman from New York (1959-1965), received one delegate vote on the first ballot at the 1968 Republican National Convention. He became a Democrat in 1971 and ran a short-lived campaign for the 1972 Democratic presidential nomination. A veteran of WWII, Lindsay had practiced law before entering politics. Horace E. Henderson had served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs during the Eisenhower Administration. In 1972, he ran unsuccessfully as an Independent for the U.S. Senate from Virginia. Normal mailing folds. Lightly soiled at right edge and on verso. Fine condition.
