Book signed: "Rudy Giuliani" on title page. His book, Leadership, 409 pages, 6½x9½, Hardcover and Dust Jacket. Miramax Books: 2002. First Edition. Rudy Giuliani (b. 1944), a former Democrat, was Associate Attorney General in the Reagan administration (1981-1983), leaving that office to become US Attorney for the Southern District of New York so that he could personally prosecute cases. He gained a reputation as a tough prosecutor, jailing Wall Street legends Ivan Boesky and Michael Millken, and pursuing organized crime, drug dealers and political corruption. Giuliani was Mayor of New York City from 1994-2001, easily securing re-election and becoming a national hero for his leadership during and after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. New York City law prevented him from seeking a third term, and other considerations (a messy divorce and prostate cancer) dissuaded him from opposing Hillary Clinton for the US Senate nomination. Giuliani was considered a strong contender for the Republican Presidential nomination in 2008, but his strategy of saving resources for the later, big state primaries proved unsound. He withdrew from the race after faring badly in the Florida primary, endorsed John McCain, and campaigned hard for the Republican ticket in the fall. Fine condition.
