Autograph Letter Signed: "Valdes" in iron gall ink. 5½x6¾ folded,10¾x6¾ flat. 3 pages. Fully Translated in English: "Confidential. My dear friend: I guess you are will receive my last letter. There, I sent you the reproduction of the article of 'El Triunfo'. I have spoken with senators and deputies here about the issue and the opinions are divided; but there are more in pro of it than against it. That same law has passed in Mexico without big protests of these people. In Mexico any society can't work unless is a Mexican one. Here the same thing happens. There is a lot of foreign capital but the [illegible] in its majority; and in the majority of the states are americans. Ask if I need to look for and send all the legislation about it. Do the task I have assigned to you. If 'El Triunfo' accepts my services and the salary is greater than the requested one, send me some money (and tell me what else you really want to know) for expenses that need to be done with the Cuban people that are here.
