In 1974 he wrote the book for Over Here, the Andrews Sisters' nostalgic look at the home front of World War II. With Linda Hopkins, he conceived and wrote Bessie and Me. Another Broadway triump was A Kurt Weill Cabaret, for which he translated some of the lyrics. Before appearing in Bessie and Me, Gerri Dean made her Broadway debut in Holt's The Me Nobody Knows.
