ME JACK, YOU JILL PLAY CAST
Sylvia Sydney, Lisa Kirk, Barbara Baxley and three other cast members sign on a Playbill for a production of Me Jack, You Jill.
Show bill signed: "Lisa Kirk", "Sylvia Sydney", "Robes/Kossez", "Barbara Baxley", "Russ/Thacker", "Harold J. Kennedy", in black felt tip, 38 pages, 5½x9. American actress SYLVIA SYDNEY (1910-1999, born Sophia Kosow in the Bronx, New York) was typecast as a poor but proud working girl or as the daughter of a gangster (City Streets, opposite Gary Cooper, 1931). Dissatisfied with these roles, she concentrated on stage work for the next three decades. Returning to the big screen, she was nominated for an Oscar as Best Supporting Actress in Summer Wishes, Winter Dreams (1973). Later films included Finnegan Begin Again (1985) and Mars Attacks (1996). LISA KIRK (1925-1990), born Elsie Kirk, dropped out of the law program at the University of Pittsburgh when she was offered a chorus line job at New York City's Versailles nightclub. She went on to appear on Broadway a total of 6 times between 1947 and 1985. Most of her acting work offstage was as on TV; she had 9 guest star TV appearances between 1950 and 1971. A singer, Kirk dubbed Rosaling Russell's singing voice in the film adaptation of Gypsy (1962) and released two solo albums in addition to performing at the Persian Room in New York City's Plaza Hotel. BARBARA BAXLEY (1923-1990) appeared on television from the early 1950s through the mid-1980s, cast in six episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents and both the original (1959) and later (1986) versions of The Twilight Zone. She also appeared in feature films, including the role of Sally Fields' mother in Norma Rae (1979). Her first love was the theater, however. She made her Broadway debut in Noel Coward's Private Lives (1948), and was nominated for a Tony in the Tennessee Williams comedy Period of Adjustment (1961). Among her many other visits to the Great White Way were Chekhov's Three Sisters, Neil Simon's Plaza Suite and the 1963 musical She Loves Me. Also signed by ROBES KOSSEZ (writer), RUSS THACKER (b. 1946) appearing as Young Man, and HAROLD KENNEDY (1914-1988) (director). Lightly toned. Fine condition.
