In letter form from MGM. In part: "You have advised us that Sally Benson...desires to write the book and Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane...desire to write the music and lyrics of a stage adaptation ...entitled MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS for amateur, tent and stock stage use...The musical score of said adaptation may contain four (4) songs written by said Martin and Blane which were used in said motion picture (TROLLEY SONG, BOY NEXT DOOR, SKIP TO MY LOU, HAVE YOURSELF A MERRY CHRISTMAS) and also approximately eight (8) additional songs to be written by Martin and Blane...." Meet Me in St. Louis opened on November 2, 1989 at the George Gershwin Theatre and ran for 252 performances, closing on June 10, 1990. It was nominated for four 1990 Tony Awards: Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score and Best Choreography. Staple holes at upper left corner. Lightly creased.
