MEIR DIZENGOFF. Document signed as Mayor, 1p, 7½x10¾. In Hebrew, untranslated. Tel Aviv, 1932 June 22. Building contract. Dizengoff (1861-1937) was born in Russia and became active in the revolutionary movement there before shifting his enthusiasm to Zionism. First sent to future Israel in 1892 by Baron Edmond de Rothschild to build a glass factory, he emigrated permanently in 1905. Soon a member of the local council in the Jewish quarter of Jaffa, he became Mayor of Tel Aviv when it became a separate city, serving in that office for most of his remaining years (1921-1925, 1928-1937). Slightly worn at edges. Staple holes at upper right. Overall, fine condition.
