Inscribed signature: "To Kayo -/Mel Allen", 4½x3 card. Magazine photo, color, 1½x2¼, affixed on right. Allen, who died in 1996 at age 83, began as a sports announcing career covering University of Alabama football in 1935. The long-time "Voice of the Yankees" (1939-1964), he also narrated TV's "This Week in Baseball" into the 1980s. He immortalized the baseball expression, "That ball is going, going, gone!" Allen and fellow announcer Red Barber were the first broadcasters enshrined in baseball's Hall of Fame (1978). Fine condition.
