MEL BLANC
Mel Blanc signs a document authorizing William D. Cunningham & Associates, Artists Manager, to accept delivery of any and all checks or sums of money payable to Blanc.
Typed Document Signed: "Mel Blanc", 1p, 8x10¼. Los Angeles, Cal., 1970 February 3. On letterhead of William D. Cunningham & Associates, Artists Manager, to Dick Cavett Show (Len Friedlander), ABC-New York. Blanc authorizes William D. Cunningham & Associates, Artists Manager, to accept delivery of any and all checks or sums of money payable to Blanc from the addressee. In 1937, Mel Blanc was hired to provide the voice for a drunken bull in the Warner Bros. Looney Tune, Picador Porky. He also did the voice of Porky ("Th-th-th-that's all, Folks") Pig, previously voiced by a genuine stammerer who knew nothing about comic timing. Before long, Blanc created the voice of Daffy Duck, whose lisping cadence was inspired by Warner Bros. cartoon boss Leon Schlesinger. In 1940, Blanc created the insouciant, carrot-chopping Bugs Bunny. Ironically, Blanc was allergic to carrots. He freelanced with MGM and Walter Lantz animation firms, creating the Woody Woodpecker's laugh for Lantz. Blanc signed to work exclusively at Warners in the early 1940s. Voices he created include Sylvester, Tweety Pie, Foghorn Leghorn, Speedy Gonzales, Pepe Le Pew and Yosemite Sam. Slightly creased. Red ink notes (unknown hand), 1 touches signature. Light paper clip impression at upper left blank margin, staple holes at upper left edge. Fine condition.
