Mel Blanc (1908-1989) and Friz Freleng (1905-1995) signed this illustration of Pepe Le Pew as he tries his amorous wiles on his feline ladylove. Mel Blanc began his career with Warner Brothers studios in 1936 as a voice specialist. While auditioning for Porky Pig, he created the adlib stammer of “Th-th-that's all, folks!”. The producer liked it so much, Blanc go the job, the line remained and became the standard Looney Tunes salutation. Some of Blanc's most memorable characters are Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, Sylvester the Cat, Tweety Bird and Bugs Bunny. Bugs made his film debut in Porky's Hare Hunt in 1938, followed by A Wild Hare (1940). He has been imitated by children of all ages with Bugs' catch phrase. “Eh, what's up doc?” ever since. Artist animator Isadore “Friz” Freleng had started in films in 1924 and joined Warners in 1930. There he directed and created cartoons, which starred these lovable characters and later he drew the sly, cool-cat, Pink Panther. As director of Knighty Knight Bugs (1958), Freleng garnered the Academy Award for that cartoon film.
