Brooks, born in 1926, is an American comedian famous (with Carl Reiner) for his Grammy-winning "2,000 year old man", and a director of comic films. His films include The Producers, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Silent Movie and High Anxiety, the latter a parody of Hitchcock films. Brooks adapted The Producers, which had won him an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 1968, into a highly popular Broadway play (now past 1,000 performances), winner of twelve Tony Awards and a Grammy.
