American film producer and director MEL STUART (1928-2012) was born in New York City, New York. Best remembered for directing the timeless 1971 film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, Stuart worked on films and television for over fifty years. Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary for Four Days in November (1964), he won a Primetime Emmy Award in 1964, and was nominated for four more Emmys. His feature film directing credits include If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium (1969) and Two is a Happy Number (1972). Stuart also directed and produced numerous documentaries and films for television. The year he received this check, Stuart produced the documentary film Birds Do It, Bees Do It for the Wolper organization. JOAN KOURY has most recently worked in publicity for the Public Broadcasting System and its Washington, D.C. affiliate, WETA. Fine condition.
