Autograph Letter signed: "Meredith Nicholson", 1 page, 5x7. Written to "Dr. Hanford A. Eason" on the first book page of his book The Hoosiers: 5x7, 296 pages. The Hoosiers, by Meredith Nicholson. London: The MacMillan Company, 1916. Hardcover. In full: "My Dear Dr. Eason: For many of the years of my life you have stood to me as the pattern of a scholar and gentlemen. It is therefore a high privilege to write your name in this volume. The book was written sixteen years ago, but I re touched it last year, apropos of Indiana's Centennial. This all an old tale to you, but worth a glance through the index will remind you, cheeringly at this season of good Hoosier times & friends. Faithfully Yours December 1916" American author Meredith Nicholson (1866-1947) was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana. He began his career in newspapers, working for the Indianapolis News from 1885 to 1897. His earliest book Short Flights was written in 1891 and he continued to write books and poems for over 35 years. Meredith's bestselling works include The House of a Thousand Candles (1906), The Port of Missing Men (1907) and A Hoosier Chronicle (1915). Lightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
