A "Progressive" historian, his commitment to democracy is reflected in his numerous publications, such as The Roots of American Loyalty (1946), The Making of an American Community: A Case Study of Democracy in a Frontier County and Human Nature in American Thought: A History (1980). His work led to advancements in peace studies, intellectual and social history, as well as Quantitative History. Lightly toned. Fine condition.
