Letter to Kitty Carlisle Hart, and from her estate. Farrow begins, "Woody & I had such a wonderful evening." Accompanied by original envelope and by an unsigned color photo
Autograph Letter signed: "Mia", 1 page, 7¼x10½. 135 CPW (Central Park West), New York City. Undated, but circa 1985. To "Dear Kitty", in full: "Woody & I had such a wonderful evening from beginning to end! It was like a dream with all elements ideal. I told my mother about your 'do' in Schenectady & if you want to send her the particulars I'm sure she'll come. She sends you her love as do I. [Address of Farrow's mother handwritten at top.] P.S. I hope the holidays are happy ones for you. P.S.S. Your son is very attractive." Accompanied by original mailing envelope in Farrow's hand, postmarked New York, N.Y., December 17, 1985; and by an unsigned color photo of Farrow. Mia Farrow's first important movie appearance was in Rosemary's Baby (1968) as the unwitting mother of Satan's offspring. Farrow's performance as Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby (1974) remains one of the few high points of the largely disappointing film. During her years with Woody Allen - before their bitter public estrangement and legal battles - she did some of her best work in such films as Zelig (1983); Broadway Danny Rose (1984), in which she was barely recognizable in a brilliant turn as a bosomy blonde bimbo; The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985); Hannah and Her Sisters (1986); Radio Days (1987); Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989); and Husbands and Wives (1992). This letter is addressed to, and was in the estate of, versatile singer, actress and TV personality Kitty Carlisle (1910-2007), who was still performing a one-woman show as late as 2006. She was married to playwright Moss Hart until his death in 1961. Farrow's mother, Mrs. Cushing, was film star Maureen O'Sullivan. Her first husband, Mia's father John Farrell, had died in 1963. Farrow and actor/director Woody Allen were a couple from 1980 to 1992, when they split bitterly over Allen's romance with Farrow's adopted daughter Soon-Yi Previn, whom he married in 1997. Christopher Hart, mentioned in the letter, was born in 1948. Horizontal mailing folds. Fine condition.
