MICHAEL JORDAN and MIKE SCHMIDT
Both sign a cap from the Tylenol Kids Classic charity golf tournament
Hat signed: "Michael Jordan", "Mike Schmidt". Visor-style cap from the Tylenol Kids Classic for Cystic Fibrosis, signed in green ink on the bill. There is a third, unidentified signature. The Tylenol Kids Classic is a charity golf tournament to raise money to fight cystic fibrosis, a life threatening lung disease often diagnosed by the age of two. Thanks to recent medical research, the average life span of those afflicted with the disease has now reached 37. Michael Jordan and Mike Schmidt were special celebrity guests at the 1990 tournament, held at White Manor Country Club in Malvern, Pennsylvania. Also in attendance were baseball star turned announcer Joe Morgan, and football star turned announcer Frank Gifford. Many professional golfers took part in the pro-am event. While at the University of North Carolina, MICHAEL JORDAN (b. 1963) was named the Consensus College Player of the Year in 1984 and "Sporting News" College Player of the Year in 1983 and 1984. A true Tar Heel, always wearing his Carolina Blue shorts during a game for good luck, Jordan also won the NCAA Championship as a freshman at UNC. He was the third pick in the draft after declaring early eligibility, with UNC Coach Dean Smith's blessing, after his junior season. The 1985 National Basketball Association's Rookie of the Year was the NBA's scoring leader ten times and Most Valuable Player five times while leading the Chicago Bulls to six world championships. "Air Jordan" was also honored by ESPN, who named him "Greatest North American Athlete of the 20th Century". MIKE SCHMIDT (b. 1949) played third base for the Philadelphia Phillies for his entire Major League career (1972-1989), finishing with 548 home runs, 1,595 RBIs and a .267 lifetime batting average. He was the National League's Most Valuable Player in 1980, 1981 and 1986, and led the league in home runs from 1974-1976, 1980, 1981, 1983, 1984 and 1986. Schmidt was an all-star in 1974, 1976, 1977, 1979-1984 and 1986-1987. The Hall of Famer won the Gold Glove 10 times (1976-1984, 1986). Few baseball fans would dispute that Mike Schmidt was the greatest all-around third baseman of all time! Fine condition.
