The British comedian signs this typed letter declining an invitation in bold black ink
Typed Letter signed: “Michael Bentine”, in black felt tip, 1p, 7x9. No place, 22 September
1965. Letterhead reads: “Little Tylers,/ Sandown Road,/ Esher, Surrey./ Tel: 4406”. To “Dear
Mr. Grant”. In full: "Thank you for your kind invitation to join the panel of judges on October
30th. Unfortunately, as I shall still be filming at the time, I shall not be able to join you. Do hope
you all have a very enjoyable evening./ Yours sincerely". British comedian Michael Bentine
(1922-1996) was a charter member in the comedy troupe that created the BBC'sCrazy
People in 1951, the year he appeared on this program. That year, Bentine, who later
developed TV programs on his own, also appeared in the British film Cookery Nook. His
other films include Fun at the Movies (1957) and Bachelor of Arts(1969). Normal mailing
folds. Lightly toned. Upper right-hand corner bent. Otherwise, fine condition.
