Singer/songwriter Bolton, born in 1953, had an extensive career in music, including a stint as the lead singer for the heavy metal group Blackjack under his birthname Michael Bolotin. But his greatest success came in 1983, after he changed his name to Michael Bolton and began a solo career. Although he released his debut album Michael Bolton that year, his breakthrough came with the release of his third album The Hunger (1987), which featured two Top 40 hits, That's What Love is All About and a cover of Otis Redding's (Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay. Bolton's next album, Soul Provider (1989), made him a soft rock superstar. The album cracked the Top 10 and resulted in five Top 40 singles, including his No. 1 hit How Am I Supposed to Live Without You?, which he had co-written. Bolton received his first Grammy Award for Best Male Vocal Performance for the song, and would be awarded his second Grammy in the same category for When a Man Loves a Woman, his cover of the Percy Sledge song, which appeared on this 1991 album, Time, Love & Tenderness. Bolton, who continues to tour and record, has twice been romantically linked to actress Nicollette Sheridan of Desperate Housewives fame. Lightly toned and bowed. Signature has low contrast in places, but is legible. Otherwise in fine condition.
