MICHAEL HOLLIDAY
Rare signature of "the British Bing Crosby"
Signature: "Michael/Holliday", on a slip affixed to a 6½x4¼
album leaf. British crooner Michael Holliday (1924-1963) was a merchant
seaman before winning two talent contests, but was signed to a recording
contract after his first appearance on the BBC. He had a string of hits in
the pre-Beatles era, including the chart-topping UK favorites "The Story of My
Life" and "Starry Eyed". Afflicted with stage fright, he died of a suspected
drug overdose. Holliday idolized Bing Crosby, and was often called "the
British Bing Crosby". His posthumous tribute album contains a eulogy by
Crosby. Toned on outer margin. Frayed on left edge. Light surface creases. Fine
condition.
