himself, with beard and glasses. Cornell University professor Michael
Kammen (1936-2013) won the Pulitzer Prize in History (1973) for
People of Paradox: Inquiry Concerning the Origins of American
Civilization. Other books by this prolific scholar include a study of
the US Constitution, A Machine That Would Go of Itself. Kammen hosted a
National Public Radio program, The States of the Union (1975-1976).
Originally born in Rochester, New York, he grew up in the D.C. area of West
Virginia, earning a BA at George Washington University before receiving a Ph.D.
from Harvard. He continued to teach at Cornell and Harvard Universities until
his death in 2013. Horizontal fold creases. Otherwise, fine
