Postmarked New York, April 26, 1978. FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Tony Awards for Best Choreographer were won by Tommy Tune (B. 1939) for A Day in Hollywood / A Night in the Ukraine (1980), My One and Only (1983), Grand Hotel (1990), and The Will Rogers Follies (1991). Tune has received a total of 10 Tony Awards. Michael Peters (1948-1994) won a Tony Award for Best Choreography for his work on the 1982 musical Dreamgirls. Jerome Robbins (1918-1998) won six Tony Awards during the course of his career out of just nine nominations. He won the Best Choreography Tony for High Button Shoes (1948), West Side Story (1958), and Fiddler on the Roof (1965). Michael Kidd (1915-2007) earned five Tony Awards during his Broadway career, all for Best Choreography. He won for Finian's Rainbow (1947), Guys and Dolls (1951), Can-Can (1954), L'il Abner (1957), and Destry Rides Again (1960). Peter Gennaro received a Tony Award for his choreography work on Annie (1977). Fine condition.
