Callan signs to honor the great American cat - the Puma
First Day Cover signed: "Sincerely/Michael Callan", 6½x3½. FDC honoring the puma, 18-cent stamp affixed, postmarked Boise, Idaho, May 14, 1981, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Callan (born 1934) starred in Broadway musicals of the 1950s, most notably as Riff, leader of the Jets in West Side Story (1957-1959). Named the Golden Globe New Male Star of the Year (1960), Callan appeared in many films of the sixties (Cat Ballou, 1965) and occasional ones thereafter (Freeway, 1988). He starred in the daytime drama One Life to Live (1985-1987) and remained a frequent TV guest star through the 1990s. Fine condition.
