MICHAEL PATAKI
AFTRA membership application signed by veteran actor Michael Pataki. He played Korax, the klingon who started the bar fight, in the 1967 Star Trek episode The Trouble with Tribbles.
Document signed "Michael Pataki" in purple ink. Blue ink notations and lead pencil marks in unknown hand. 2 pages, 6x8½, 1 sheet, front and verso. With 6¼x3¼ initiation fee receipt carbon copy with perforated left edge stapled at top edge. Membership form for the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. Pataki, born in 1938, had his first movie appearance in an uncredited role in 1958's 10 North Frederick. However, he didn't see his career take off until 1966, when he made and acclaimed performance in Edinburgh as Jerry in Edward Albee's Zoo Story. Pataki has compiled an impressive resume, with appearances in over 150 movies and TV shows, as of this biography, since 1958. He's often appeared in the supporting cast, with a notable performance as Russian boxing manager Nicoli Koloff in Rocky IV (1985) and Rocky V (1990) and recurring roles on The Flying Nun (1967-1970), Paul Sand in Friends and Lovers (1974-1975), Happy Days (1976), Spider Man (1978), Phyl and Mikhy (1980), The Fall Guy(1982-1984) and Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures (1987-1988). Ren and Stimpy fans may recognize his voice as that of all-American George Liquor, American! in Dog Show (1992) and the banned-on-Nickelodeon episode Man's Best Friend. He also showed up in both the original series and Next Generation versions of Star Trek. He played Karnas in the 1988 Next Generation episode Too Short a Season and the klingon Korax in the 1967 favorite The Trouble with Tribbles; he's the one that started the fight in the starbase bar by making unforgivable insults to the Enterprise crew, like calling Captain Kirk a "Denebian slime devil" (no!) and the Enterprise a "garbage scow" (he didn't!). Lightly toned and creased. Receipt is missing bottom right corner, has carbon copy marks and was folded once and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
