MICHAEL ROMANOFF
Signed on a sheet with icons from his Beverly Hills restaurant attached
Signature: "Michael Romanoff", 4x2½ affixed to a larger 7¾x4¼ page with two small printed icons from his restaurant. Russian émigré Michael Romanoff (1890-1971), born Hershel Geguzin in what is now Lithuania, claimed to be a nephew of Czar Nicholas II. He ran a restaurant in Beverly Hills (1941-1962) frequented by Hollywood stars. Nobody believed his claim of royal lineage, but his imposter status may even have increased his popularity in Tinsel Town. David Niven devoted an entire chapter of his memoir to the colorful Romanoff. Several films made reference to the "Prince" and his restaurant. Toned. Lightly soiled. Left edge of larger page frayed. Otherwise, fine condition.
