titled, "Boy Wonder," framed to an overall size of 13¾x16¾.
Photograph signed: "Michael Vick/7". Color, 8x10½, Photograph
of a painting by Harrison Wood titled "Boy Wonder." Matted and framed to an
overall size of 13¾x16¾.Michael Dwayne Vick (born in 1980) cut his collegiate
career at Virginia Tech short to join the Atlanta Falcons in 2001. One
of the highest-paid NFL players, he signed a ten-year, $130 million contract
with the team in 2004. His achievements on the field were impressive. In
2004, he became the first NFL quarterback to rush for over 100 yards and
pass for over 250 in the same game, and led the Falcons to the third division
title in their history. In 2006, he became the only quarterback to have rushed
for 1,000 yards in the regular season, and also compiled the highest rushing
yards average (8.4) for a quarterback. On July 17, 2007, however, Vick and
three others were charged with operating an interstate dog fighting
venture at his 15-acre Bad Newz Kennels. On July 23, 2007, Vick was
suspended indefinitely by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, and Falcons
owner Arthur Blank stated that Vick would not play for the team until his
legal matters were resolved. Vick also lost multi-million dollar
endorsements on athletic gear and shoes with such firms as Nike, Adidas and
Rawlings. The events overshadowed Vick's considerable charity work, which
includes the nonprofit Vick Foundation. After serving 21 months in
federal prison, and failing to secure a bankruptcy reorganization because he
could not assure the judge of his future income, Vick was reinstated in the
NFL in 2009. Joining the Philadelphia Eagles, he played well, and in 2010
became the team's starting quarterback. He was named NFC Offensive Player of the
Month in September 2010. Fine condition. Not framed in the Gallery of History
style.
