MICHELE GRIFFITHS
The actress writes about her new life in England and her current ailment, signs name in blue ink
Autograph letter signed: "Michele" in blue ink. 3 pages, 8½x11. March 3, no year. Paris, France. In full: "It was very nice to hear from you for Christmas, sorry I didn't write before but I live in England now and for more than a month the G. Post Office is on strike!! I am back to Paris only because I have a "Jaundice" and trust more my French doctor than the English one, also because when I feel sick I never find anybody as great as my parents to take care of me - I left my poor husband behind, (I think I told you already I got married last September with a great guy - very English - very gentleman and a fanatic of sport cars!! His name is Gerald - We are not settled anywhere yet. We just spent for a little while in London a month or two, and then to Wimbledon, near Gerald's work. Where I am not sick and in bed - like now - (I have been in bed for almost 3 weeks now!! And I am quite fed up with it!) I study, in London, to work as a guide interpreter next Spring in London. All very exciting and very interesting. My father is going to be open an art gallery around October and I will probably work for him from London, as he will be interested in having painters from abroad like U.S. or England or Spain to expose in his gallery - I shall also try to send him some good customers...I don't forget you and you will receive an invitation at the big opening in October it might be the little reason which will push you to old Europe! And I will be very pleased to see you again and introduce you to Gerald and some of my friends. For the summer we are still going to Newton, Gerald loves to drive his little Lotus down there...and it is quite cheap for a "young couple" to stay at my parent's flat! And also I am dying to see the Rivera, the sun, palm trees, and fell like the easy going life around me -. I do look quite...Reclusive...all yellow even my eyes...the only good think I lost some weight I am almost 5 stones ½ quite a change with America - English food is so bad, you can hardly put any weight...actually it is not true - it is true it is bad but they love pudding and pies and cream and custard and gravy...all very fattening...and not even good!! What a country!! I still think U.S. are the most fantastic country to live in, I like England because it is near France, near Paris...Have you been back to the Caribbean? My parents-in-law just spent three weeks there on a cruise, they are really looking for a nice place to retire - What do you prefer best California or New York? I definitely miss New York, may be because Ionely stayed there seven months, and got no chance to be tired of it - I think England is quite boring in a way, and quite charming in another hand; but anyway NOT MODERN! And quite slow in deciding or acting - Have you been to England before? I do like Sweden, I think I need the noise and the rush of a city around me to feel myself 0 How is your work and your life? I am going to stay here until the end of the month, please do write me soon a long letter, it will cheer me up a little bit - It is not fun to be stuck in bed...especially all yellow! Hope you are fine - Love". Michele Griffiths was an actress in the 1970s. Normal mailing folds. Creased throughout. Corners creased. Toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
